Get ready to immerse yourself in the beauty of Bali as we take you on this unforgettable journey.
Nestled amidst the lush highlands of North Bali, the Handara Gate stands as a majestic entryway to a tranquil world. This towering stone gate, framed by verdant greenery, is more than just an Instagram hotspot; it embodies the essence of Bali’s cultural and spiritual heritage. Visiting Handara Gate feels like stepping into a portal to serenity, with the misty mountains in the background adding an ethereal touch.
The architecture of Handara Gate reflects traditional Balinese design, symbolizing a connection between the physical and spiritual realms. As you walk through the gate, the peaceful ambiance surrounding it invites you to pause and soak in the moment. Whether you’re a photography enthusiast or simply seeking a serene escape, Handara Gate is a must-visit destination.
To make the most of your visit, it’s best to arrive early in the morning. The soft light of dawn enhances the beauty of the gate, and you can avoid the crowds that gather later in the day. Wearing traditional Balinese attire during your visit can add an authentic touch to your photos, making your experience even more memorable.
A short drive from Handara Gate takes you to the breathtaking Jatiluwih Rice Terrace, a place that showcases the harmonious relationship between nature and human ingenuity. The rice terraces stretch across the hills in perfect symmetry, creating a landscape that is both visually stunning and culturally significant. Recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Jatiluwih is a testament to Bali’s ancient Subak irrigation system, which has been passed down through generations.
Walking through the terraces, you’ll feel a deep sense of connection to the land. The lush greenery, the gentle rustle of the rice plants in the wind, and the distant sounds of village life create a soothing atmosphere. The farmers working in the fields are a reminder of the hard work and dedication that goes into maintaining this agricultural marvel.
For those who enjoy outdoor activities, Jatiluwih offers several trekking and cycling routes that allow you to explore the area at your own pace. As you navigate the paths, you’ll encounter small streams, traditional Balinese huts, and panoramic views that are perfect for photography. Visiting during sunrise or sunset provides the best lighting for capturing the beauty of the terraces.
No trip to Bali is complete without witnessing the grandeur of Tanah Lot Temple. Perched on a rocky outcrop surrounded by the sea, this iconic temple is one of Bali’s most photographed landmarks. As you approach Tanah Lot, the sound of waves crashing against the rocks and the sight of the temple silhouetted against the sky create an unforgettable experience.
Tanah Lot is deeply rooted in Balinese culture and spirituality. Although the temple itself is not accessible to non-Hindus, the surrounding area offers plenty to explore. The pathways leading to the temple are lined with local markets where you can shop for unique souvenirs, from handmade crafts to traditional Balinese snacks.
The highlight of any visit to Tanah Lot is the sunset. As the sun dips below the horizon, the temple is bathed in a warm golden light, and the ocean reflects the vibrant hues of the sky. It’s a moment of pure magic that captures the essence of Bali’s natural beauty and spiritual depth. To fully enjoy the sunset, it’s best to arrive early and find a good viewing spot.
Situated near Handara Gate, the Ulun Danu Beratan Temple is a serene retreat that seems to float on the waters of Lake Beratan. Surrounded by misty mountains, this Hindu-Buddhist temple complex is a tranquil oasis that invites introspection and peace. The temple is dedicated to Dewi Danu, the goddess of water, lakes, and rivers, highlighting its significance in Balinese culture.
Walking through the temple grounds, you’ll be captivated by the intricate architecture and serene surroundings. The temple’s reflection on the calm waters of Lake Beratan creates a mesmerizing scene that photographers will love. The cool mountain air and the gentle lapping of the lake’s waters enhance the sense of calm, making it an ideal spot to relax and recharge.
To fully appreciate Ulun Danu Beratan, visit during the morning hours when the area is less crowded. You can also take a boat ride on the lake for a different perspective of the temple. As you explore, remember to dress modestly and respect the sacred nature of the site.

Had the most amazing morning watching the sunrise. Our driver Agus picked us up on time, he was friendly, drove safely and made sure we were ready for our activity providing hot tea and coffee on arrival. We went up the mount with our jeep driver Wayan. He parked in a perfect spot with a perfect view of the sunrise. He also took amazing photos and videos of us (our very own personal photographer) and was a super nice guy providing us with our breakfast at the top of the volcano !! Overall brilliant experience and the most beautiful sunrise we have seen in Bali.
great time the guide was great! it was great!
We loved the trip! Waking up so early was definitely worth it, we were stargazing and then watching one of the best sunrises in our lives! Agus turned out to be great driver, and even helped us later with our trip. He took plenty of amazing pictures and he was able to “catch the moment” ! Always had something interesting to say about Bali. I would definitely recommend this trip 🙂
Activité au top. Notre chauffeur Radin était super sympa, très dévoué pour nous faire des photos 🙂
